Ramsey left Thorsay over a decade ago after the death of his one and only love, Gisela Matheson, and has led a life full of adventure, which included being held prisoner and barely escaping death with four other men in Portugal and helping one of those men rescue abducted women from a harem! But now he must put his wandering behind him and return home to fulfill his promises and face his memories. When he arrives he is greeted by Signy Matheson, Gisela’s younger sister, and is happy to learn his grandfather still lives but is surprised by the cold reception from Signy. Richard -- Vividly detailed situations and very likable characters : With numerous emotional happenings and lots of vividly described scenes, the final book in the Rogues Redeemed series kept me thoroughly entertained throughout each captivating situation. Mary Jo Putney always knows how to pull the reader into her storyline with cleverly imagined developments and fascinating characters, and she definitely came up with both for ONCE A LAIRD. The direction in which the author took the lives of her romantic couple was convincingly believable, and I came to really care about how any events would influence their futures. There were some lows from time to time, and any highs brought me joy because of the happiness I felt along with the characters who were affected. The book certainly kept my full attention the whole time, as I never knew when a life-changing incident might take place. ( Reviewed in the United States on November 1, 2021 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Rgrainer -- Super finale to the Rogues Redeemed series! : Although, I hope Mary Jo Putney will gift us with a short story detailing the visit of the 6 couples! Ramsay is called home, as his grandfather the laird is dying Signy has been the laird's assistant for a while and agrees reluctantly to help Ramsay take over as laird. They both need to learn to trust each other. Ramsay has to feed his interest in antiquities at home and Signy wants to be able to spend more time painting. But there are a bunch of things that need to be done first. There is a lot going on in this story and I loved every minute of it! ( Reviewed in the United States on October 29, 2021 )
